Thursday, July 3

Storyteller Arianna Ross presents “Nature’s Rhythms”, Rockville Library, 2 PM. Ages 5 & up. You’ll get to hear insect noises made with instruments from around the world.

Ocean Quartett, Concerts in the Square, Rockville Town Square, 6 PM – 8 PM. These women are WAMMIE winners who play traditional Celtic music and award-winning originals, as well as some of the songs from Jennifer Cutting’s British folk-rock band, The New St. George.

F r i d a y , J u l y 4

Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration, Montgomery College Rockville Campus, 7 PM – 10 PM. The fireworks start at 9:30 PM. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs as stadium seating is limited. Parking in the campus parking lots and in the lot at Mannakee St. & Rt. 355. It can take up to one hour to leave these parking lots. Live music including Redline (classic rock) at 7 PM on the campus stage., In the football stadium, the Fugitive Brass Quintet will play at 7 PM and the Rockville Concert Band at 8 PM. No grilling. Food vendors. Recycling is encouraged.

Saturday, July 5

Rockville Growers Only Farmers Market, Corner of Monroe Street & Rt. 28, 9 AM – 1 PM. Free parking. Flowers, fruits, vegetables, plants and home-baked goods. Always a good review.

I Am Legend, Movies on the Square, Rockville Town Square, 8:30 PM (dusk). Free.

Sunday, July 6

Opening Reception: Art Exhibit Korean American Artist Alliance, Glenview Mansion Art Gallery, 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM. With the Pendleton Trio playing from 2 PM – 3 PM.

Tuesday, July 8

Free SAT and ACT Prep, Rockville Library, 7 PM – 8:30 PM. For high school kids to learn new strategies to improve scores.

Kid’s Day, Rockville Town Square, 6 PM – 8 PM. Free activities for the kids! Kids eat free at participating restaurants. Unicycle Lady, 6pm & 7pm, Rock Climbing Wall, Air Brush Tattoos, Face Painter, and Balloon Artist. Every Tuesday until July 22nd. Can you say “madhouse”? Here’s a picture from this week. Get there early to avoid one wait in line and enjoy the show.



Wednesday, July 9

Rick Whitehead Trio, Out to Lunch Wednesdays, East Montgomery Avenue in Rockville Town Center, 12 PM – 1:30 PM. Farmers’ Market, Food, and Jazz. They were the 2007 Washington Area Music Award (Wammie) Best Jazz Group.

Dan Haas, Concerts on the Square, Rockville Town Center, 6 PM – 8 PM. “Accoustic, surf, French Pop” music and they’ve recorded a CD live at Ram’s Head ‘cause he’s from West Annapolis.

Thursday, July 10

Gaming: Guitar Hero. Twinbrook Library, 1 PM registration, 2 PM play. For teens! (I know you wanted to go!)

Ruthie and the Wranglers, City of Rockville Concerts in the Square, Rockville Town Square, 6 PM – 8 PM. Roots Rock.

Violin Concert, Twinbrook Library, 7 PM. Students from the studio of Kathleen Scarborough will perform solos and duets.

Friday, July 11

A FREE READING of the play which inspired Puccini’s opera, The American Center for Puccini Studies, Rockville Christian Church, 102 Adclare Road, 7:30 PM. See performances listed below on Sat. & Sun.

Gypsy, Rockville Musical Theater, F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, 8 PM. $20/adults, $18 seniors, $16/students. Will be performed for three weekends! “Mama Rose takes her daughters on tour across the US in the 1920's to make them vaudeville stars. Fame comes their way, and burlesque is born with Gypsy Rose Lee.”

Saturday, July 12
